Job Summary

ACCO Brands is seeking an Audit Associate within our global Audit Services team based in Lake Zurich, IL. Candidate will be responsible for working independently, or within teams, on operational audits, compliance activities (SOX) and other activities, such as advisory process reviews. The Audit Associate will develop an understanding of key business processes, perform test procedures, recommend corrective actions, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. A successful candidate should demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, time management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational audit engagements (e.g., manufacturing, distribution center, order to cash, purchase to pay, payroll, and financial audits), which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing audits timely
  • Proactively interact with key business unit management to gather information, review processes for efficiency and effectiveness, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements
  • Acquire a working knowledge of ACCO’s business including a solid understanding of the manufacturing, distribution, and commercial sales/marketing processes
  • Research and analyze financial statement and operational audit related issues
  • Develop an understanding of the Institute of Internal Auditors Global Internal Audit Standards
  • Employ a thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques
  • Complete management testing of ACCO’s internal controls in support of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary
  • Up to 10-15% travel, including international and domestic locations (some audits/projects will be performed remotely)

Qualifications

  • Two to four years recent work experience as an auditor or accountant at a public accounting firm or internal audit department
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs, including Excel
  • Solid understanding of business processes and the inherent risks of the processes 
  • Well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Collaborative team player, and ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment
  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude
  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to apply creative thinking to develop thoughtful, practical approaches and solutions
  • The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
    • CPA or CIA certification (or currently working towards it)
    • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, German or Polish
    • SOX testing experience
    • Experience with a manufacturing or distribution company
    • Data analytics experience or data mining experience 
    • Advanced degree

 

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
