Job Summary
ACCO Brands is seeking a Category Advisor for our Bentonville, AR office for one of our largest retailers, Walmart.
This role directly supports category-based initiatives determined through data and market analysis alongside your Walmart Merchant team. The individual in this role is expected to be a key team member assisting in the development of category and segmentation strategies to grow Walmart’s total business in the assigned categories. The Category Advisor position directly supports Walmart and owns the relationship and communication on unbiased category recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Provide fact-based category recommendations to Walmart Merchandising team.
- Work with and advise cross functional teams regarding business methods, assortment, modular development, and/or other related services that promote and maximize Walmart’s goals and objectives for the category.
- Lead the category modular process. Analyze and develop modulars based on past sales, trends, and other market inputs. Deliver category assortments at the store level with assortment planning tools.
- Support the buyer’s annual business plan for the category. Track, measure and report performance results.
- Gather in market information and interpret competitive market intelligence to evaluate effectiveness of programs against plan.
- Proactively provide reporting on a regular basis and ad hoc as required. Prepare and deliver fact-based recommendations.
- Develop and maintain relationships and day-to-day working rapport with cross functional partners inside both Walmart and ACCO Brands.
- Maintain strict adherence to Walmart’s confidentiality and Category Advisor Services Agreement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Quantitative discipline or related field required
- At least 3 years of experience as a Category Advisor with some combination of category management, forecasting, inventory management, and POS analysis required
- Working knowledge of category management tools (Retail Link, JDA space planning software, Circana syndicated category data, etc.) required
- Experience working with Walmart and their modular process required
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex data sets and identify emerging shopper trends.
- Consumer packaged goods knowledge is desirable
- Strong organizational skills with a disciplined approach to managing processes on a day-to-day basis respecting defined authority levels.
- Strong customer service skills including effective communication
